Kate Marek Mason

My local landscape is a constant source of inspiration to me. Recently I've begun working on a series os pieces depicting aerial views, taken from a hot air balloon, of both my local area and the broader Brisbane area. The scenery and landmarks have a particular resonance for me, having lived in Brisbane all my life.
This series of paintings is like a documentation of how both my memories and the local landscape have transformed. I have painted the Brisbane landscape for years, but in these new works I am using a loose, abstract and expressive style that is more sensitive, more emotional and more "me" than anything I've done before.
